A fourth Generation Crafts Artisan, Denise Wallace Spriggs is a Lecturer in the School of Theatre at Boston University. As Costume Crafts Artisan for the Costume Department, Ms Wallace-Spriggs has been an integral part of the production team at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, winner of the Tony Award in 2013 for the best regional theater in the United States. Her work has been in Broadway productions including The Thirty Nine Steps, Porgy and Bess, and Finding Neverland. She was the Design/Technology/ Management Keynote speaker, a respondent, and a workshop presenter in 2017 for the region 1 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Additionally, she was one of the first artistic experimenters and users of thermoplastic Fosshape. She also has an excellent reputation as a teacher, and currently gives workshops in many craft subjects all over the country. She runs workshops in millinery from her workshop in Stoughton Massachusetts, DWS Studio. Denise is the 2015 recipient of the Dr. Adian Tinsley Award for Achievement in the Arts from her Alma Mater, Bridgewater State University.
