This workshop will discuss a creative design thinking process focused on the principles of character analysis and its reflection in costumes. The presenter will offer an example of a costume design process for a collaborative production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Hands-on activities will include filling in the character description table, describing characters using only adjectives, and translating character's traits into design elements such as texture, color, shape, and lines. Students who face challenges in creating a design message reflecting character's traits will find a method on how to select and apply design elements in the development of costume design.
