David Kuehn

Cotuit Center for the Arts
Executive Director
David Kuehn is Executive Director of Cotuit Center for the Arts on Cape Cod. Since taking the helm in 2010, he has successfully led a revitalization program that has resulted in increased community awareness, membership and donor support, and quality programming in all areas of the arts. A native of Indiana, he left the heartland in 1979 for the California gold coast and a degree in music performance from UCLA. His passion for and experience in all art forms was rooted during his early days in California where he played in Daniel Lentz’ ensemble. In Los Angeles, Kuehn worked in the scene with such visionaries as Philip Glass, John Adams, Keith Haring, David Hockney, Dan Flavin, Franco Assetto and more. In 1993 he hopped back over the Midwest en route to NYC where he eventually ran the classical music division of RCA records, guiding recording projects by such luminaries as Leontyne Price, Van Cliburn, Michael Tilson Thomas, Denyce Graves, Max Vengerov and the Kronos Quartet, just to name a few. In a career spanning 25 years, Kuehn has worked in retail, distribution, sales, marketing, public relations and directly with artists and their repertoire. His experience, though founded in classical music, spans all genres of the arts, from music to theater and fine arts. A seasonal resident of Cape Cod since 1993, Kuehn and his partner took up year-round residence in their Yarmouth Port home in 2000. Since then, Kuehn has stayed active in the arts and the community. He is a former Chairman of the GALE fund, sits on the Board of the Community Leadership Institute of Cape Cod, has volunteered for several organizations on the Cape and is an avid cyclist.
