Ilyse Robbins (Musical Theatre Guest Artist/Workshop Presenter) is the Associate Artistic Director of Greater Boston Stage Company (formerly Stoneham Theatre) in Stoneham, Massachusetts. She also freelances as a director, choreographer, actress, and teacher in the New England area. Ilyse holds a BS in Communication/Theater from Northwestern University, certification in theater from the British American Drama Academy and an Ed.M. from Harvard University. Ilyse currently teaches creative drama education for Brandeis University and Musical Theatre Performance at Northeastern University. Ilyse is on the staffs of Mohr Collaborative and Ovation Communication as a presentation skills coach. Ms. Robbins most recently co-directed/choreographed Road Show for the Lyric Stage Company of Boston and directed/choreographed She Loves Me and Dames at Sea for Greater Boston Stage Company. Her choreography was just seen on the Hanover Theatre stage in their tenth anniversary production of A Christmas Carol. Next month, Ilyse will co-direct a production of MOMologues at GBSC and will then choreograph Allegiance for SpeakEasy Stage Company. Ilyse received the 2014 Elliot Norton Award for Best Direction for her production of Thoroughly Modern Millie at GBSC and is the recipient of six Independent Reviewer of New England (IRNE) awards, most recently for her choreography for Scottsboro Boys at SpeakEasy Stage. Direction/choreography/performance credits include: United Solo Festival NYC, Greater Boston Stage Company, Speakeasy Stage Company, Lyric Stage Co. of Boston, New Repertory Theatre, Hanover Theatre, Underground Railway, The Modern Theatre, Hope Repertory Theatre, Fiddlehead Theatre, Overture Productions, Jewish Theater of New England, American Stage Festival, Boston Theatre Works, Wheelock Family Theatre, Museum of Science, Publick Theatre, Reagle Music Theatre, Boston Women on Top Festival, Liberty Mutual, and Fidelity. Favorite roles include Dessa in Tongue of a Bird (New Repertory Theatre), Pam in The Full Monty and Joyce/Evie in The Sparrow (Stoneham Theatre), Truvy in Steel Magnolias (Fiddlehead Theatre), and Little Becky/Mrs. Millennium in Urinetown (Lyric Stage Company). Ilyse is the voice of the narrator in Eve Bunting’s book My Teacher is Having a Baby and can be seen on various commercials (usually for banks or the medical profession).
